How collaboration with CERN adds value to SolidWatts clients

Situated just a few kilometres from our offices, and with four of our team having previously served at CERN, SolidWatts enjoys exceptionally close ties with CERN, one the world's largest and most respected centres for scientific research. It’s a symbiotic relationship with direct benefits to our clients. CERN operates the world's largest Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA) installation, producing in excess of 2 megawatts of power for use in their world-renowned particle physics research. Meanwhile, we are creating the latest generation of SSPA technology. We regularly speak with the CERN team, sharing experience, knowledge and ideas.

Additionally, SolidWatts is a CERN Technology Partner and CERN Spin-off; an accolade earned on merit as well as the positive, high-impact potential of SolidWatts in facilitating true innovation in industrial process heating.

In 2023 SolidWatts entered into a formal collaboration with CERN to work on injection-locked magnetrons for controlling high RF power at higher frequencies. This has the potential to become a secondary technology SolidWatts can bring to market for industrial process heating. You can read more about that project here.

Through our formal accreditations and project collaboration we benefit from valuable access to CERN facilities for development and testing of our technology at the very forefront of high-frequency engineering.
