MBA students uncover process efficiencies
Executive education and innovative startups have a lot to benefit from one another. And so it proved when we recently engaged with six smart, hardworking students from the IMD MBA program, in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Motivated by SolidWatts technical innovation and potential for positive climate impact, our intrepid students took a deep-dive into market and business opportunities. Conducting research and interviews, they identified use cases where dielectric heating has the potential, not only to be far more energy efficient than gas, but to eradicate an entire process, effectively replacing two processes with just one! At scale, the energy and emission reductions would be highly significant. But in addition to this, further gains would be realised from the improved business efficiency of losing an entire process, along with its CAPEX and OPEX requirements.
Whilst the students admitted it was at first difficult to wrap their heads around the technology required for microwave-based industrial processes heating (after all, this is a technically complex topic) they could clearly see its potential for the decarbonisation of industry, and the role it can play in a net zero future.
We are grateful to IMD for selecting us to be one of the startups their students get to work with, and wish the students great success in all that is to come.
