We’re hiring – RF Engineer

SolidWatts is a deeptech and greentech startup that enables industry to transition from fossil fuel to clean and sustainable electric for industrial process heating. We have created the new state-of-the-art in solid-state hardware solutions to deliver Radio Frequency (RF) power to heat materials through dielectric heating. Industrial machine builders, integrators and end users integrate our products into their machines, manufacturing and production systems to achieve energy and emissions reductions, improved process control and the ability to develop entirely new processes. With recent investment we are now scaling our sales operations within mainland Europe, bringing innovation and new technology to a sector seeking process improvements and opportunities for decarbonisation. SolidWatts is located in the west of Switzerland with offices in Lausanne and Geneva.

Job description
We are looking for a determined and highly proactive RF engineer with expertise in the design and simulation of complex RF components at highest power levels and RF frequencies. You will be active in the technology research, design and simulation of RF components and systems at 27MHz and power levels beyond multiple tens of kW. In collaboration with the development team, you will work on the design implementation, the fabrication and the RF validation of prototypes and production grade units. In addition to that, you will help with designing, building and testing parts of the RF power delivery chain from the generator to the applicator. You’ll need to relish the opportunity to participate in the building of our company in an exciting, fast moving, constantly changing environment. Boring and repetitive are not words in our vocabulary!

Responsibilities

- Lead the design, simulation and development of RF components(s).
- Collaborate with the production team and potential external partners to define manufacturing specifications.
- Conduct physical laboratory testing using RF measurement equipment to validate the performance of RF components.
- Plan, oversee, and carry-out testing of prototype and production RF components under power.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation covering designs, test results, lessons learnt, and developed procedures.

About you
- Experience in the design and simulation of complex RF components.
- Several years of experience in the usage of 3D EM simulation software.
- Ability to calibrate and use RF measurement equipment and to interpret the results.
- Hands on approach to RF equipment including tuning and power testing.
- Fluent in English, additional languages are a benefit.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Motivated to challenge the status quo and tackle climate change within industry.
- Customer-focused, detail-oriented, and adept at prioritising and multitasking.
- Proactive approach to constant learning and self-development.
